Soccer Storms Back For Key District Win Over Irving

2/15/2025 8:16:00 AM

Jesuit Dallas tightened its grip on the district lead with a massive win on Friday, upending Irving, 3-1. The Rangers hold a four-point lead over Lake Highlands, who moved ahead of Irving with a 1-0 win over J.J. Pearce.

The Tigers took an early lead in the 20th minute, becoming the first team to score against the Rangers since January 22, when Irving upended the Blue and Gold, 2-1 for Jesuit's lone loss of the season. Taking the one-goal advantage into halftime, Jesuit Dallas erupted for three goals in the second half.

Junior Cooper McGough tied the match with a goal in the 55th minute, followed by a pair of goals from senior Mario Zamora over the final 15 minutes of the match. Jesuit's defense locked down on the Tigers down the stretch, turning away a high-powered Irving squad that entered the matchup as the third-ranked offense in the district.

The Rangers will now return to Ranger Stadium for a pair of matches next week. Jesuit will host J.J. Pearce on Tuesday, February 18 before matching up against Lake Highlands on Friday, February 21. Both matches are set to start at 7:15 p.m.
