Kingston Stephens punched his ticket to the University Interscholastic League (UIL) 6A State Championships by earning the silver medal at the Region II-6A Championships, held on Friday and Saturday at Allen High School. Jesuit Dallas finished 12th overall in the annual showcase as eight of the Rangers' nine competitors recorded points for the Blue and Gold.
Entering the tournament as the district champion from 5-6A, Stephens opened his run with a 51-second pin of Ayden Cerda from Conroe Caney Creek before securing a spot in the semifinals with a 7-0 decision over Klein Oak's Christian Aranda. The junior clinched his spot in the state tournament with a convincing win in the semifinals, upending Nick Payne from College Park, 10-0 before dropping a narrow, 9-7 decision to Allen's Gianni Diaz in the championship match. Stephens will enter the state tournament with a 35-4 record and fought his way through two 30-win foes to earn his way to the Berry Center in Cypress, Texas.
Junior
Alex Shomin placed sixth at 126 pounds, battling his way back from a loss in the first round with three straight wins to earn his way to the consolation semifinal. Shomin upended Klein Oak's Armando Recendez with an early second period pin in the first consolation round, added a 10-5 decision in the second consolation round before dominating with an 18-0 technical fall in the third consolation round. Luke Bloodworth secured two wins, advancing to the championship quarterfinal with an 11-8 decision over Jamarkus Campbell of Klein Collins in the first round.
Senior Jacob DaBoub punched his ticket to the championship bracket with a pin of Joseph Camerino from Klein Collins, closing out the tournament with four points for the Rangers. Junior
Trevor Leap added a win in the 165 pound division, dominating his first consolation round bout with Khyrell Banegura (Conroe Grand Oaks) en route to a 23-11 major decision.

Owen White secured a pin over Parker Bui from Rockwall Heath to score for the Rangers, and junior
Dash Llana added three points by earning two decision victories during his run at 120 pounds.
Stephens will head to The Berry Center in Cypress, Texas for the 2025 UIL 6A State Tournament, which will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, February 14.
