Jesuit's goal came in the 68th minute as the Rangers were looking to equalize following a tally by Mesquite in the 21st minute. Sophomore
Zane Roland sent a throw-in by senior
Noah McGough towards the top of the box. Senior
Drew Koshakji deflected the ball back to Roland, who had found some open space in a soft spot of the Skeeters' lockdown defense. Roland sent a low line drive that ricocheted off the glove of Mesquite goalkeeper Adan Ramirez and rolled into the back of the net on the far side to tie the contest at 1-1 and send the Rangers' student section into a frenzy.
Â
Mesquite kept pressure on the Rangers throughout the contest, out-shooting the Blue and Gold, 26-4, but the Jesuit Dallas defense and goalkeeping contingent rose to the challenge with several highlight-reel performances. Senior
Jake Chostner started the game in goal for the Rangers, making three saves in the first half before senior
Marcelo Elizondo took over in the second, making two saves including a stop in the 79th minute that helped send the game into overtime.
Â
After a scoreless first overtime, Mesquite looked poised to score the game-winner in the 97th minute as the Skeeters made a heads-up play on a counter, placing the ball at the top of the box with an empty net. Senior
Mario Zamora came racing in and made the defensive save on the goal line to keep the game knotted at 1-1, providing Jesuit the opening to advance to state on penalty kicks. However, Mesquite's high-powered offense held serve in penalties as the Skeeters went 4-for-4 on penalty attempts and a pair of misses by Jesuit provided the opportunity for Mesquite to advance to the state final to take on Austin Vandegrift.

Jesuit Dallas finished the 2025 season with a 21-2 record, the most wins in a single season for the Rangers since 2017. Jesuit's postseason run started with a 2-0 win over Arlington Lamar and continued with a dramatic, last-minute goal by senior Clyde Ariaza that propelled Jesuit to a 2-1 win over Denton Guyer in the area round. Overtime victories over Byron Nelson and Southlake Carroll awarded Jesuit with its fourth regional championship and the first since 2017.
