Soccer Program Decorated With All-State, All-Region & All-Area Awards

5/2/2025 3:42:00 PM

Jesuit Dallas soccer punctuated its best season since 2017 with a slew of major awards, highlighted by three student-athletes that landed on the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches and Officials (TASCO) All-State Team. Seniors Marcelo Elizondo, Clyde Araiza and Mario Zamora each secured all-state honors while head coach Charlie DeLong was named the UIL Region I-6A Coach of the Year following a vote of coaches in the area.

In addition, Zamora and senior Noah McGough picked up all-area honors from the Dallas Morning News as part of their annual list highlighting the best athletes in the Metroplex.

Elizondo led the charge for the Rangers, earning TASCO All-State First Team honors. The District 7-6A Goalkeeper of the Year, Elizondo finished the season with a 10-1-1 record, securing one solo shutout and 13 combined shutouts. Securing 28 saves during the season, Elizondo made a major splash for the Rangers as a marshal of a defense that yielded only 0.45 goals per game.

Zamora was named to the all-state second team after picking up District 7-6A Most Valuable Player honors. A key component of Jesuit's vaunted defense, Zamora was also one of the team's top goal scorers in set pieces, racking up six goals and an assist during his senior season. Araiza joined Zamora on the all-state second team after leading the team in overall scoring. Araiza scored 14 goals and added six assists to the team's total en route to securing a spot on the all-district first team.

McGough was named to the all-region first team after being named the District 7-6A Utility Co-Player of the Year. The senior multi-sport standout scored six goals and added four assists during his 2025 campaign.

DeLong secures his fourth Regional Coach of the Year award after leading the Rangers to a 21-2-0 record, the program's first district championship since 2017 and the team's fourth regional crown. Jesuit's 2025 season opened with Jesuit capturing the Jesuit-Meintser Invitational Championship in January before winning 13 straight games to end the regular season. In the postseason, Jesuit Dallas upended Arlington Lamar in the bi-district round before a last-minute, 3-2 win over Denton Guyer in the area round.

Jesuit's magical run continued with a dramatic overtime win over Byron Nelson in the regional semifinal, followed by another overtime victory over Southlake Carroll in the Region I-6A Division II Championship game.
