5/28/2025 11:11:00 AM

Two members of the Jesuit Dallas soccer team, seniors Marcelo Elizondo and Mario Zamora, added to their impressive postseason resumes by securing spots on the Texas High School Coaches' Association (THSCA) Super Elite Team, announced by the organization in late May.

Elizondo was named the Texas 6A Goalkeeper of the Year following an amazing season that included District 7-6A Goalkeeper of the Year honors and a spot on the Texas Association of Soccer Officials and Coaches (TASCO) All-State First Team. The senior goalkeeper finished the season with a 10-1-1 record, picking up one solo shutout and adding 13 combined shutouts. Adding 28 saves during the year, Elizondo was a key component of the Jesuit Dallas defense and helped marshal the Blue and Gold to the UIL 6A Division II State Semifinals.

Zamora picked up District 7-6A MVP honors and a spot on the all-state second team after serving as the general of the Jesuit Dallas defense throughout his senior season. Typically found on the field sporting the captain's armband, Zamora scored six goals and added an assist as a multi-tool player, helping the Rangers on set plays to compliment his staunch defensive prowess.

Jesuit finished the 2025 season with a 21-2-0 record and won the fourth regional championship in program history with a sensational run through the postseason. After upending Arlington Lamar, 2-0 in the first round, a last-second, 3-2 victory over Denton Guyer sent Jesuit to the regional semifinals. Overtime wins over Byron Nelson (2-0) and Southlake Carroll (2-1) awarded the Rangers with their first regional championship since 2017.
