Jesuit Dallas clinched its 20th University Interscholastic League (UIL) bi-district championship, defeating Arlington Bowie, 8-0 on Friday, May 2 and clinching a two-game sweep of the Volunteers in Arlington, Texas. The Rangers will advance to take on Flower Mound Marcus in the UIL Region I-6A Division II area round in a three-game series that begins on Thursday, May 8 in Flower Mound, Texas.

After four scoreless innings, Jesuit finally broke through in the top of the fifth with four runs that helped propel the Blue and Gold to the sweep. Junior
Braxton Barber kicked off the inning with a leadoff walk and moved to third on a double by senior
Jake Fults. Junior
Brooks Kowal launched a double up the middle to score the Rangers' first runs of the game, as Barber and Fults crossed the plate to spot the Rangers a 2-0 advantage. Jesuit would take control with six more runs while Jesuit's pitching contingent dominated the Volunteers for its second straight shutout of the series.

Kowal drove in three runs on Friday, going 4-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Senior
Barrett Kasprowicz ripped a bases-clearing triple in the top of the sixth while sophomore
Roman Derichsweiler went 3-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Junior
Taylor Haddock drove in the final run for the Rangers while Fults went 3-for-4 from the plate. Junior
Charlie Wilson scattered a pair of hits for the Rangers.

On the mound, senior
Brayden Montes remained unbeaten on the year with another stellar performance, throwing six innings, holding Bowie to two hits, and striking out five Volunteers. Senior
Sean Cullen threw the bottom of the seventh, striking out three batters in the final inning of the game.

Jesuit will match-up with a Flower Mound Marcus squad that captured the District 5-6A Championship with an 11-3 league mark, edging Flower Mound by one game for the district title. The Marauders opened the playoffs with a two-game sweep of McKinney Boyd, upending the Broncos by identical scores of 3-2 on Thursday and Friday. The first game is set for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at Flower Mound, followed by a 7:30 p.m. first pitch on Friday at Wright Field. If necessary, a decisive third game is set for Saturday at Coppell, at a time to be determined.
