DALLAS - The Jesuit Dallas water polo team played Southlake Carroll to a 15-14 overtime decision on Saturday in a battle between the top two teams in District 3-6A. The Dragons scored three goals in the second overtime period to come away with the victory.
Jesuit (11-12-1, 3-2) trailed for much of the contest before taking the lead with 2:10 remaining in the fourth quarter on a
Charlie Gall score. SLC tied it at 12 with 1:00 on the clock before each team forced a turnover to end regulation.
In the first 3-minute overtime, the Rangers got goals from
Aiden Reardon and
Sebastian Lazar for a 14-12 lead. But the Dragons scored three time in the final extra session, including the game winner with 49 seconds to play.
Reardon and Lazar led the Rangers with five goals each. Gall finished with three scores and
Tamer Nino scored in the third quarter.
Cayden Bartusek was excellent in goal as he stopped a career-high 33 shots.
SLC (17-3, 4-0) got a team-high four goals from Royce McBride.
Jesuit will face St. Marks on Tuesday at home. The junior varsity game will begin at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity at 6 p.m. The Rangers will close out district play a week later against Keller.
