DALLAS - Behind three individual champions and two other medalists, the Jesuit Dallas wrestling team finished third at the Frank Halloran Ranger Classic on Saturday. The third place finish is an all-time high for the program in its annual home event.
Jesuit scored 145.5 points in classic that featured 23 teams from across the state. Coppell won with 168 points, just three ahead of San Antonio Johnson. The two flipped positions from a year ago when Johnson took the team trophy.
Alex Shomin went 4-0 and took down the top two seeds on his way to the 132-pound title. He got a pair of 3-0 pins on Friday before winning in front of the home fans with some drama-filled decisions. He got a third period fall while tied at 7-7 over Benjamin Shaddox of Walnut Grove before winning the championship with a 1-0 decision over top seeded Leo Lopez of North Mesquite - a 5A state qualifier a year ago. For his efforts, Shomin was named the Outstanding Lightweight Wrestler of the Meet for the lower weight classes.
Kingston Stephens remained undefeated on the season, winning three matches in dominating fashion. He defeated Kylan Colleps 17-0 on Friday, Michael Leal of Johnson 18-3 and then went up 10-0 before he pinned Bilal Habib of Plano late in the second period. It was his second-consecutive Ranger Classic crown after winning the 106-pound weight class in 2025. He is now 29-0 in non-forfeits this season.
Dash Llana joined Shomin and Stephens atop the podium in his class, claiming the 120-point class with four victories.
Two other Jesuit competitors collected top four finishes -
Parker Sherman was third at 285 and
Thomas Czuppon was fourth at 138.
Irving MacArthur's Wyatt Davis won his third-consecutive Ranger Classic title. He repeated at the 190-pound class this year after also winning at 175 in 2024.
