WEATHERFORD, Texas - The Jesuit Dallas baseball team split a pair of games on opening day Thursday at Weatherford High School. The Rangers fell to Weatherford 7-5 and defeated Arlington Martin 10-3.
Jesuit had six extra base hits in each game and finished with double-digit hits as well.
Game 1 - Weatherford 7, Jesuit 5
Jesuit had 12 hits in the contest but left eight runners on base.
Taylor Haddock had three hits and drove in a pair, while
James Jorgensen and
Roman Derichsweiler each had two hits and an RBI.
Jacob Martinez stuck out four and allowed six runs on five hits in 4.2 innings.
Game 2 - Jesuit 10, Martin 3
Jesuit scored three runs in the third and four in the fifth to take control of the contest. Derichsweiler,
Davis Montgomery and
Cole Johnson all had 2-run base hits. The 6-9 spots in the lineup combined for six hits and nine RBI.
Sebastian Lasa worked five innings and three runs on just two hits for the win.
Levi Secker had two scoreless innings with just two baserunners in relief.
The Rangers will be back in action on Friday in Aledo. Jesuit will play Denton Guyer at 1:45 p.m. and Aledo at 4:30 p.m.
