Pierce Popelka scored 20 points and
Nick Pregler had a career-high 14 off the bench as Jesuit Dallas defeated Arlington Bowie, 71-49, in a UIL Boys Division 2 Playoff Region 1-6A Bi-District game at Coppell High School Arena on Tuesday.
Jesuit improved to 18-13 and won its seventh-consecutive game to advance to the Area Round where it will face No. 2 state ranked Little Elm (31-2). The game will be at Flower Mound HS on Friday at 7 p.m.
The Rangers shot 60 percent and were especially effective in the first quarter where they built an 18-6 lead. Jesuit made 7-of-10 in the period and 4-of-6 from outside. They scored on nine-consecutive possessions in a 22-4 run that helped them build a 26-4 lead midway through the second quarter.
Jesuit outrebounded Bowie 35-26 and handed out 20 assists on 27 field goals. The Rangers finished with nine 3-pointers.
Bowie (11-21) shot 33 percent and had just 29 points through three quarters. Ada Yusuff led the Volunteers with 16 points.
Jesuit won its tenth Bi-District game and improved to 23-20 in UIL playoff action since joining the organization in 2004.
