DALLAS - The Jesuit Dallas baseball team scores four runs in the first two innings and got outstanding pitching from
Jacob Martinez in a 6-2 victory over J.J. Pearce at Wright Field on Thursday.
Martinez (2-2) struck out four and scattered five hits through six innings. Jesuit (12-6-2, 4-0 District 7-6A) finished with 10 hits and won its fifth-consecutive game over the Mustangs.
Nine different Rangers had a hit, including
Brooks Kowal who went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Davis Montgomery connected with a 2-run double in the first ining to get the scoring started.
Alex Barr scored on a wild pitch two batters later for a 3-0 lead.
An inning later,
Griffin Civello scored from first on a
Taylor Haddock extra base hit.
The Mustangs got on the board in the sixth with a 2-out triple to make it 4-1.
In the bottom of the sixth,
Nate Iannariello delivered a ball through the left side of the infield that scored pinch runners
Hudson Yobp and
Preston Farragut for a 6-1 advantage.
Pearce scored a run in the seventh off reliever
Sebastian Lasa.
Kaden Kubat took the loss for JJP. He allowed four runs on six hits and three walks in 1.2 innings.
Jesuit will face Lake Highlands (5-9, 1-3) in a 2-game set next week, with the first match up on Tuesday at Wright Field at 7 p.m.
