James Jorgensen struck out 12 Richardson batters in a 20-0 no-hitter at Wright Field on Tuesday. The win secured a playoff berth for the Rangers with five district games remaining.
Jorgensen (4-0) walked two batters and got three outs on ground balls to face just two over the minimum in the 5-inning run-rule victory. He now has 64 strikeouts in 28 innings and a 0.50 earned run average.
Jesuit scored 13 runs in the first inning to take control of the game which featured two 8-0 teams.
Davis Montgomery went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI and scored twice for the Rangers. He now has 10 hits and 10 RBI in his last five games.
Jesuit hitters combined for four extra-base hits, with
Taylor Haddock belting two doubles, Jorgensen one and Montgomery connecting for a triple.
Jesuit (18-6-2, 9-0 7-6A) extends its win streak to 12 games while Richardson (17-5-2, 8-1) sees its 13-game win streak end.
The victory clinched a berth in the UIL 6A Baseball Playoffs for the Rangers.
The teams will meet again on Friday at Eagle Stadium.
