Despite 468 yards of total offense and a tremendous effort from its aerial attack, the Jesuit Dallas Rangers dropped a non-district road date to Arlington Bowie Volunteers in the season opener for both schools. Senior quarterback Bo Schneider completed 17-of-27 passes for 405 yards and six touchdowns, although Jesuit's offensive exploits couldn't overcome a devastating offense surge from Bowie, which rallied from a halftime deficit en route to a 72-49 victory.
The 121 combined points resulted in the highest-scoring game in Arlington public schools history, while the teams combined for 1,340 yards of offense. Behind 398 passing yards from Schneider, Jesuit led 42-41 at halftime, although several penalties and a terrific effort by the Bowie defense in the second half quickly turned the tables for the Rangers.
Garrett Amy paced Jesuit's receiving corps with 140 yards and three touchdowns off five catches, while Matt Slovak grabbed five passes for 121 yards and a score. Slovak, who also rushed for a touchdown, led the team's ground attack with 48 yards on 13 carries.
