Ranger Defense Dominates Vikings: The Rangers cruised to their second consecutive shutout, 40-0, over Nimitz on Oct. 16. Jesuit Dallas (6-1, 4-0 UIL 9-6A) held Nimitz to 85 net yards, including only 32 passing yards. Senior Peyton Long recovered two fumbles, finishing with three tackles while senior Ryan Brooks led the team with two tackles for loss. The Rangers scored on all five first-half possessions, with junior Jacob Palisch throwing for a career-high 228 yards. In addition, senior Adam Holtz set a new career best with 150 net rushing yards, while seniorsConnor Lanpher snagged six passes for a season-high 76 yards. Senior John Wengierski kicked a pair of field goals, including a career-high 47 yarder that ended the opening half.
Shutout City Still Standing: Jesuit Dallas has shut out four opponents this season, the first time that a Ranger team has accomplished that feat since 1979, according to available records. Back-to-back shutouts against Irving and Nimitz over the past two weekends mark the first time that Jesuit Dallas has recorded back-to-back clean sheets since the 2010 season, when the Rangers blanked Samuell and Sunset in consecutive weeks.
Holding the Line: The Rangers average 371.3 yards per game, including 200.9 yards on the ground. One key component for the squad's success this season has been the offensive line, an experience-laden and talented group that have sparked the Rangers' run game success. In addition, the Ranger offensive line has allowed the mobile quarterback Jacob Palisch cushion in the pocket, as the team has only surrendered six sacks this season, compared to the 13 recorded by the Jesuit Dallas defense.
Moving Up the Ladder: It was a strong week for the Rangers in both the polls and the stat leaderboard, as Jesuit Dallas made its debut in the MaxPreps.com Texas Top 25 Football Poll at No. 24. In addition, the Rangers moved up to No. 9 in the Dallas Morning News Area Rankings, the highest that the team has been ranked under head coach Brandon Hickman. Additionally, Jesuit Dallas will head into Friday's battle with the area's top-ranked overall defense and passing defense.
Scouting W.T. White: The Longhorns will arrive at Postell Stadium with a 4-3 record alongside a 2-2 mark in conference play. W.T. White's offense, anchored by quarterback Jackson Fults and runningback Daniel Joof, have impressed this season, with Fults hurling for 1,134 yards and 17 touchdowns to only two interceptions while tacking on 458 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. Joof has 548 yards and a team-leading eight rushing touchdowns on the year, while wide receiver Rodarian Harrison has caught seven touchdowns this season. However, despite the succcess of the Longhorn offense, the W.T. White defense surrenders 30.6 points per game to opponents, including 56 points in last weekend's loss to Skyline (56-7).
Up Next: Jesuit Dallas will return to Irving Schools Stadium for the final time, set to battle MacArthur at 7:30 p.m. in a contest that will have major ramifications on the final UIL 9-6A standings.
