Saturday's win over MacArthur was a perfect encapsulation of Jesuit' season. The Rangers hit a season-high three home runs: one each from
Darius Hill,
Nic Ready, and
Kyle Muller. Muller also threw a complete game on the mound, striking out nine in five innings of work. The junior is 6-0 on the season with a 0.60 ERA in 8 starts. He has also struck out 75 batters in 35 innings of work, averaging better than two strikeouts per inning.
Â
Hill hit a home run in the third inning Saturday, tying him for the team lead at five long balls. Two batters later, Muller promptly took the team lead right back, launching an opposite field blast, his sixth of the season. Ready's fourth inning bomb was his second in as many games.
Â
Over the course of Jesuit's 12 district matches, Hill, Ready, and Muller have led the Ranger offense that averages better than 10 runs per game. Hill's .585 batting average and 17 RBIs against district foes pace the team, followed by Ready's .500 avg and 15 RBIs, and Muller's .417 avg and 12 RBIs.
Austin Sheahan is hitting .412 in district play, and added three RBIs to his total Saturday.
Grant Reuben bats cleanup and is hitting .409 in the district. Each of these is among the seven JCP ballplayers committed to play collegiate baseball.
Â
On the mound Jesuit is led by senior
Harrison Folk, who is 8-0 in his 9 starts this season, with a 1.00 ERA. Junior
Pete Hamrick has three wins on the year and boasts a .667 ERA. Hamrick has given up just two earned runs in 21 innings of work, mostly in relief situations.
Lorenzo Riddle won all three of his starts early in the season. Jesuit also has wins from two sophomores:
JJ Montenegro, who got the W in two early tournament games, and
Jacob Palisch, who has struck out 26 in 18.2 innings of work.
