After tallying five goals to set a new season-high, Jesuit Dallas remained unbeaten in University Interscholastic League (UIL) District 9-6A, upending district rival MacArthur, 5-1, on Friday evening at MacArthur High School.
Three different Rangers found the back of the net, including junior
Ethan Moore and Christian Lerma, who scored two goals apiece. Senior
Liam Finn tallied the squad's final goal, recording his fifth goal of the year. Senior
Patrick Howell picked up a pair of assists, while junior
Chase Burciaga additionally secured an assist for Jesuit Dallas (10-2-1, 6-0-0 UIL 9-6A).
Moore struck with his first goal of the contest 10 minutes into the contest, taking a pass from Burciaga and slotting it past the Cardinals goalkeeper to provide the Rangers with another early lead. Lerma tallied his first varsity goal at the 20-minute mark off an assist from Howell, sending the Blue and Gold into the half leading, 2-0.
MacArthur scored a penalty kick goal three minutes into the second half, snapping a Jesuit Dallas shutout streak of over 400 minutes. Lerma returned the Ranger lead to two goals with a header 15 minutes into the stanza before Moore buried a penalty kick four minutes later to increase the lead to three goals. Finn scored Jesuit's final goal of the evening with 19 minutes remaining on Howell's second assist of the night.
Jesuit Dallas will return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 16, when the Rangers welcome R.L. Turner to Postell Stadium for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
