The Jesuit Dallas soccer team, ranked No. 13 in the most recent
TopDrawerSoccer.com Texas State Poll, opened the second round of University Interscholastic League (UIL) District play with a 1-1 draw against Sunset on Friday evening at Wilmer-Hutchins High School.
Closely replicating the Rangers' 2-1 win over the Bison on Jan. 26, Sunset took a 1-0 lead into the halftime break with a penalty kick. Jesuit Dallas (11-2-2, 7-0-1) began to garner momentum in the early portions of the second half before senior
Liam Finn was fouled in the box 15 minutes into the second stanza.
Finn deposited the ensuing penalty kick for his sixth goal of the year, but neither team was able to find the back of the net before the conclusion of the second half. Jesuit Dallas remains in first place in UIL District 9-6A with 22 points in the season standings, five points ahead of second-place Irving, who defeated Skyline, 7-1, on Friday.
On Tuesday, the Rangers will travel to Forester Field to take on Skyline at 7:30 p.m. before returning home to battle Irving in a meeting of the district's division leaders on Friday.
