Rain-Soaked Rangers Post 10th Shutout of Season

Senior Liam Finn broke a scoreless tie with seven minutes remaining in the second half, pushing the Rangers past Skyline, 1-0, in a rainy mid-week bout on Tuesday afternoon.

Finn's scored his seventh goal of the year, continuing a recent streak that has seen the Ranger fourth year record a goal in five of the team's last six games. Junior Luke Ostrander and sophomore Joseph Banul teamed up for the Rangers' 10th shutout of the year, keeping Jesuit Dallas (12-2-2, 8-0-1) unbeaten in University Interscholastic League (UIL) District 9-6A play.

In addition, the Rangers moved to No. 11 in the most recent iteration of the TopDrawerSoccer.com Texas Regional Rankings, released on Monday.

The Rangers took six shots on target in the opening half, procuring six corner kick attempts. Skyline was able to launch a pair of attempts towards the net, but the teams went into the halftime break scoreless. The two teams played through the poor conditions throughout the second half before Finn broke away late to break the tie and award the Rangers the victory.

Jesuit Dallas will next compete against Irving on Friday, Feb. 26 in a 7:30 p.m. kickoff at Postell Stadium.
