Junior
Jacob Palisch delivered yet another outstanding performance on the mound for the No. 12 Jesuit Dallas pitching staff, throwing the team's third no-hitter of the season in a 12-0, University Interscholastic League (UIL) District 9-6A win over Irving on Friday evening at Wright Field.
Palisch, who improved to 4-0 on the year, struck out eight batters while only walking one, helping the Rangers (18-4-2), improve their winning streak to six games and remain unbeaten in the district. The junior retired the first 14 batters in order, lowering his opponent's batting average to .173 and his ERA to 1.20, the third lowest mark on the squad.
Senior
Jared Bond ended the game in the sixth with a three-run bomb to right field, closing out the game 2-for-2, adding a pair of hit by pitches to score four total runs on the evening, a tea-high. Fellow fourth year
Kyle Muller shared the team-high with Bond, batting 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored. Senior
Bryce Bonner drove in three runners in the fourth on a double to center, while classmates
Jared Kengott,
Matt Horvath,
Connor Lynch alongside junior
Mark Ready also tallied hits on the evening.
A first inning single through the right side by Muller plated junior
JT Mix to jump-start the Jesuit scoring. The Rangers would score at least one run in all six innings, with Lynch doing the honors in the second, cracking a single to left to score Bond.
Junior
Jake Ryan hit a sacrifice fly to center in the third to score Muller before senior
Pete Hamrick forced a bases-loaded walk in the fourth to improve the lead to four runs. Bonner logged the squad's first big hit of the game with the bases loaded and two outs the fourth, taking a 3-1 pitch to center, scoring Hamrick, Lynch and Bond, and giving the squad a seven-run lead with a two-out double.Â
In the fifth, Bond scored on a passed ball before Muller laced a triple to center field, scoring Hamrick. A double to right by Kengott and single through the left side by Ready set the stage for Bond, who took the 3-1 pitch over the right field wall to end the game.
Jesuit Dallas will next kick off a two-game set against Nimitz, battling the Vikings on the road at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
