Campbell Frost advanced to the semifinals of the University Interscholastic League (UIL) 6A Tennis State Championships on Monday, May 16, culminating a dominant season with a run at the state crown in College Station, Texas.
Winning their first round matchup against Gabe Carrido and Rajiv Saralaya from Amarillo H.S., 6-4, 6-1, Frost and Kissee fell to Josh Van Winkle and Austin Moninger from New Braufels in the UIL 6A Boys' Doubles Semifinals. Winning the first set, 6-1, Van Winks and Moninger orchestrated a strong comeback, securing the second and third sets by a score of 6-2 to advance to the finals.
The Ranger duo closed their season with an unprecedented record of 31-1, winning four tournament titles throughout the spring prior to clinching the UIL District and Regional Doubles Championships. Frost and Kissee secured the regional crown with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over a regionally-ranked squad from Lake Travis.
Frost and Kissee capped their incredible season by becoming the first doubles team in program history to advance to the UIL 6A State Tournament, and the first member of the Jesuit Dallas program to earn a ticket to state since singles player Bernie Lancaster in 2004.
