With a key matchup against local rival Highland Park on the horizon, the Jesuit Dallas tennis team continued its unbeaten run through the fall with an 8-0 win over Berkner in a rain-shortened match on Tuesday. The Rangers recorded their third shutout of the year and eighth win of the 2017-18 campaign, setting the stage for a massive matchup between state championship hopefuls Jesuit and Highland Park on Oct. 5.

Christopher Reynders jump-started the team with an 8-6 win at top-flight doubles. Sophomore

Nick Slayton tacked on an 8-1 decision at No. 2 doubles before sophomore
Stewart Buchanan and freshman
Thomas Cluck clinched the doubles sweep with an 8-4, third-flight victory.

 "It's tough sometimes for guys like Kota and Chris because they play with different partners all season long," commented Jesuit Dallas head coach
Paul McDaniel. "I thought they really complimented each other's games and looked really confident."

In singles play, Ashmore, Buchanan and freshman
Connor Bryant cruised to 8-0 wins while Slayton added an 8-1 victory to punctuate a dominant afternoon.

Jesuit and Highland Park will compete on Thursday, Oct. 5 at Highland Park High School. Thursday's matchup will begin the homestretch of the fall season for the Ranger tennis program, which will compete against John Paul II (Oct. 12) and Coppell (Nov. 10) before breaking during the winter season.
