Celebrating the accomplishments of a 12-member senior class, Jesuit Dallas came one step closer to clinching its third consecutive University Interscholastic League (UIL) District 9-6A Championship with a statement-making, 5-0 win over W.T. White on Tuesday at Postell Stadium.
Â
Junior
Christian Lerma scored two first half goals and added an assist for the Rangers to pace the squad offensively. Seniors
Tommy Flaim,
Reilly Minigutti and
Ethan Moore completed the goal scoring for the Blue and Gold, while fellow fourth year
Luke Ostrander worked all 80 minutes in goal, logging six saves en route to recording Jesuit's ninth clean sheet of the season. With the victory, Jesuit (14-3-1, 11-1-1 UIL 9-6A) can clinch the district crown with a win over Berkner on Friday.
Â
W.T. White took the first two shots of the game, forcing Ostrander to make an early first half stop to keep the game scoreless. The momentum began to tip towards the Rangers soon after, culminating with Lerma's first goal of the contest in the 11th minute. The Longhorns attempted to clear the ball back to their goalkeeper for a clearance, but Lerma intercepted the pass and sent the ball home from five yards out for the first goal of the bout.
Â
Moore scored in the 17th minute when Lerma found the Trinity University commit from the left side of the field. Moore collected the ball and slotted the goal home from eight yards out. Lerma scored the Rangers' third goal off of a lob pass from Flaim that got past the Longhorn defense, finding the waiting feet of the junior, who was able to deposit the attempt over the goal line.
Â
Ostrander turned away two W.T. White shots to start the second half before senior
Will Kennard drew a penalty kick when fouled inside the box in the 45th minute. Flaim took the attempt, shooting to the right side of the goal and launching the attempt past the Longhorn goalkeeper for a 4-0 lead. In the 66th minute, Minigutti beat the defense on the left side of the field, sending a ball towards the W.T. White goal which was deflected in by a Longhorn defender for the final goal of the contest.

Assured of a spot in the UIL 6A State Soccer Tournament after spring break, Jesuit will aim to clinch its eighth UIL District Championship on Friday when the Rangers travel to Wildcat-Ram Stadium to battle Berkner. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
