A second half goal from senior
Andrew Gilchrist provided Jesuit Dallas the margin needed to upend Berkner, 1-0, on Friday evening in Richardson, Texas. Combined with Skyline's season-ending loss to J.J. Pearce, Jesuit clinched the final playoff spot In University Interscholastic League (UIL) District 9-6A and will play Sachse in the a UIL 6A Bi-District round.

Both sides played to a first half stalemate, although Jesuit Dallas earned a distinctive first half offensive advantage. The Rangers attempted 10 shots in the first half while holding Berkner without a single shot, adding four corner kick attempts to the first half stat line. Jesuit's first key attempt came in the 21st minute when junior
Diego Sierra placed a shot on goal that necessitated a save by the Berkner goalkeeper.

Ryan Davis,
J.P. Koshakji and
Alex Reznicek were turned aside, including a shot by Reznicek in the 27th minute that ricocheted off the post. A shot in the 36th minute attempt by Gilchrist was blocked to close out Jesuit's first half.

Gilchrist struck in the 57th minute off of a cross by Reznicek. The senior took the lob at the top of the box and fired a shot past the Berkner goalie that shot off the far post and danced across the goal line before rolling into the net for the go-ahead goal.Â

The Jesuit defense handled the Rams down the stretch, clinching the win by only allowing one shot from Berkner. With the victories, the Rangers earn their second shutout of the season and the first clean sheet since a 4-0 win over Nolan Catholic on Jan. 13.

Jesuit and Sachse will meet at Homer B. Johnson Stadium for a 5:30 p.m. kickoff on Friday. The winner will face either Longview or Conroe High School in the UIL Area Round.
