The Jesuit Dallas faithful cheered the Blue and Gold to a 64-46 win over Frisco Centennial on Friday at Walsh Gym. The contest, which also served as the annual Teddy Bear Toss game, sends Jesuit Dallas into the championship game of the 59th Annual Knights of Columbus Bob Stras Dallas Classic, where the Rangers will face off against Lovejoy at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
Sophomore
Caleb Steger led the way with 16 points, going a perfect 11-of-11 from the free-throw line. Senior
Tai Kryger added 15 points, the second highest total on the team, while securing seven rebounds and five assists, both of which were team highs. Senior
Charlie Needham tacked on 12 points to the effort, senior Dylvan Gibbons and junior
Will Bronson added six points apiece and the trio of senior
Owen Berry along with juniors
Hank Gramlich and
Justin Kemp recorded three points apiece.
The Ranger defense held the Titans to 33.3 percent shooting from the field and 21.1 percent from three-point range. Frisco Centennial committed 14 turnovers, which in turn led to 15 points for Jesuit.Â
Jesuit Dallas will battle Lovejoy in the Tournament Championship showdown, as the Leopards advanced to the final following a 56-50, overtime win over Hillcrest in the first round and a 59-45 victory over Sachse in the first Tournament Semifinal. Saturday's game will mark the fifth consecutive tournament in which Jesuit Dallas advanced to the championship game, and the Rangers will look to score their first tournament title since the 2018-19 season, when Jesuit defeated Mesquite, 62-40.
