The Rangers swept their way through the first day of the 2022 Tournament of Champions, upending Wylie, 10-6 before securing a 1-0 win over Burleson on Thursday at Reedy H.S.
Â
In the first game of the day against Wylie, senior
Jake Storey launched a two-run home run in the second inning, his first long ball of the season which helped support his start on the mound. The University of Northern Colorado commit picked up his first win of the season with 5.2 innings on the mound and seven strikeouts. Junior
Jonah Timmons racked up a team-leading three RBI in the contest, going 1-for-3 from the plate with a triple.
Â
Junior
Dominic Migliore drove in two runs, senior
David Long tacked on a double for a two-hit morning, and junior
Callen Singhania scattered a pair of hits. The Rangers scored nine innings in the bottom of the second inning, then held on down the stretch as the Pirates scored five runs over the final two innings of the contest.
Â
Against Burleson, junior
Luke Isett struck out a career-high 12 batters en route to securing his second consecutive complete game win. The junior, who has yet to give up a run this season, only allowed two hits on the day and worked his way out of a jam in the seventh, retiring the side with runners on second and third with no outs and Jesuit leading by one run.
Â
Due to cold weather in the area, Jesuit's Friday games against Frisco Wakeland and Rockwall Heath were canceled. The Rangers will return to action for two games on Saturday, first taking on McKinney North at 9 a.m. before closing the tournament at 11:30 a.m. against Houston Memorial.
