Senior
Tommy Delaney launched a two-run blast in the bottom of the fifth, trying to spark a Jesuit rally against J.J. Pearce, but the Mustangs used five runs in the fourth and three insurance runs in the seventh to hand Jesuit a 9-2 loss on Thursday at Wright Field. In a showdown that was plagued by two lightning delays, the Rangers were unable to topple the Mustangs as Pearce swept the season series from Jesuit.
Junior
Nick Barber led the Rangers with two hits on the day, including a two-out double to left center in the bottom of the third. Junior
Callen Singhania added a double of his own as additional hits were picked up by seniors
Cash Riley and
Jake Storey. On the mound, Storey made the start with 3.2 innings pitched and three strikeouts before junior
Jack Barr took over in relief, striking out four over 3.1 innings.
The Rangers will return to Wright Field on Tuesday, Mar. 22 to take on Lake Highlands. First pitch for the series opener is set for 7 p.m.
