Soccer Caps Sensational Run With Playoff-Clinching Win Over Richardson

The Jesuit Dallas soccer team will head into the postseason on a five-game unbeaten streak after securing a 2-0, shutout win over Richardson on Tuesday at Eagle-Mustang Stadium. The Rangers needed a regulation victory to reach the postseason, as a loss or tie would have clinched a berth for the Eagles, however a pair of second half tallies and another stellar outing from junior goalkeeper Cole Hines punched Jesuit's ticket to the UIL Region I-6A Tournament.

Sophomore Keane Kidwell started the scoring for the Rangers with a tally in the 63rd minute assisted by junior James McCrea. Minutes later, senior Jack Fisher sent home a feed from junior Erwin Ordaz on the header, giving Jesuit a 2-0 lead in the 74th minute. The Rangers outshot the Eagles, 11-5 in the contest, and Hines secured a pair of saves to secure his fifth clean sheet of the season. Jesuit fended off four Richardson corner kicks, drawing eight fouls and a red card in the sixth minute that forced the Eagles to play a man down for most of the game.

Jesuit will now turn its focus to the postseason, when the Blue and Gold will travel to Mustang-Panther Stadium in Grapevine, Texas to take on District 8-6A Champion Arlington Martin. The Warriors enter the playoffs on a seven-match winning streak, closing out an 11-1 run through district play with a 6-3 win over Sam Houston on Mar. 11.

Arlington Martin is led by junior Julian Hilal, who has scored 19 goals on the year, followed by 12 goals from sophomore Chase Ramirez. Junior Bronson Paus is the expected starting goalkeeper for the Warriors, as he has appeared in 19 games this season, secured four shutouts and enters Thursday's contest with a 1.10 goals against average.

Kickoff for Thursday's playoff game is set for 7:30 p.m. in Grapevine. There will be no pre-sale tickets, as tickets will be cash only at the Mustang-Panther box office. The winner of Thursday's game will take on the winner of a match-up between Prosper and Lewisville that will take place on Friday, Mar. 25 at 7 p.m.
