Goals by sophomore
Keane Kidwell and senior
Jack Fisher gave Jesuit Dallas a 2-0 win over the Irving Tigers on Tuesday at Postell Stadium. The victory sets up a massive showdown for Friday night, as Jesuit Dallas takes on Richardson in a contest that will determine the final playoff team out of District 7-6A.
Kidwell gave the Rangers a 1-0 lead at halftime with a goal in the 36th minute. The sophomore brought the ball downfield in transition, launching a shot that caught the Irving goalkeeper and bent inside the far post to give Jesuit the key first goal in a physical contest between the two teams. Fisher's goal came in the 71st minute off of a corner kick from junior
James McCrea. The senior buried home a header in the upper right 90 for a crucial insurance goal that helped the Rangers outlast a determined Irving offense.
The Tigers outshot Jesuit, 17-10, and junior
Cole Hines once again rose to the challenge with six saves on the night. Jesuit kept the pressure on Irving throughout the contest, earning four corner kicks.
Jesuit will travel to Eagle-Mustang Stadium for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff against the Eagles. The winner of Friday's showdown will meet Arlington Martin in the first round of the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Region I-6A Tournament.
