Jesuit Dallas dropped a 5-2 decision to Coppell to open the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Region I-6A Area Round on Thursday at Cowboy Stadium. The Cowboys used a three-run first inning to pull ahead of the Rangers early, then held on down the stretch as Jesuit attempted to rally with several clutch hits in the third and fifth.

Myles Tucker and
David Long drove in runs for Jesuit, as runs were scored from freshman
Jake Fults and sophomore
Cameron Davis. Tucker scored Fults on a ground-rule double to left center field in the third inning, while a single to left by Long in the fourth plated Davis. Long tied junior
Callen Singhania for the team lead with two hits apiece. On the mound, junior
Luke Isett struck out three batters over 4.1 innings, while junior
Jack Barr threw the final 1.2 innings of the game without allowing a hit.

The Rangers will look to rebound on Friday when the Cowboys travel to Wright Field for game two. A decisive game three is currently scheduled for 4 p.m. at Kelly Field in Carrollton, Texas.
