Callen Singhania stole home with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, as Jesuit Dallas responded to a late rally by Arlington and took control of the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Region I-6A Bi-District round matchup with a 4-3 win over the Colts on Thursday at Wright Field.
Singhania ripped a one-out single in the bottom of the sixth to reach base, moving to third after senior
Tommy Delaney beat out a ground ball for a single. With senior
David Long battling at the plate, a high fastball went over the glove of the Colts' catcher and hit the net, providing the opportunity for the speedy Singhania to break for home and score the go-ahead run. Senior
Myles Tucker went 2-for-3 on the night, and jump started the Jesuit offense with a RBI single in the bottom of the first inning. The hit would score freshman
Jake Fults, who would later make one of the key defensive plays of the game in the top of the seventh.
With two outs and a runner on second, Arlington catcher Jackson Irons ripped a ground ball through the left side. Fults raced into the left side gap and stopped the ball before it entered the outfield for a likely game-tying hit, instead giving the Rangers runners at the corners with two outs. Senior
Jack Sharp would make another stellar defensive play in the following at-bat, ending the game with a sensational throw from third to first punctuated with a great catch by Delaney to give Jesuit the victory.
