• Jesuit upended Irving on Friday, 56-7, behind a rushing attack that amassed 408 yards. The bulk of Jesuit's offense came through chunk yardage; Jesuit's average scoring play was 34.2 yards long.

• Jesuit has scored first in all but one game this season and are 4-0 when scoring first.

Jake Musso (Sr.) set a new season-best in rushing yards with his 140-yard performance against Irving.

• Jesuit enters Friday's game with a 15-game district winning streak, and the Rangers are 21-3 in district games since 2019.

17 • Charlie Schmidt • Sr. • QB: Has scored eight touchdowns (five rushing, three passing) during district play while averaging 187 passing and 63.7 rushing yards per game...recorded his longest rush of the season on a 50-yard touchdown scamper against Irving.

7 • Jake Musso • Sr. • WR: Has the team's longest touchdown run of the year (76 yards vs. Irving), longest touchdown pass of the year (62 yards to L. Fawcett vs. Lake Highlands), and the second-longest touchdown reception of the year (60 yards vs. Hebron)...averaging 11.0 yards per carry in district.

28 • Tristen Bird • Jr. • LB: Dallas Morning News Honorable Mention designee after recording two tackles, an interception and blocked field goal  against Irving...blocked and returned a 98-yard PAT against Pearce.

25 • Cameron Martin • Sr. • RB: Averaging 7.1 yards per carry and 9.0 yards per reception against district competition...has recorded touchdown runs of 37 yards (vs. J.J. Pearce) and 30 yards (vs. Irving) during district play.

Matchup By the Numbers

1 • Opposing district running games have been eradicated by the Rangers, as only one rushing touchdown has been allowed over the last three games. Jesuit held J.J. Pearce (54 yards) and Irving (72) under 100 yards despite both teams carrying the ball more then 25 times.

4.5 • Jesuit's rushing attack is averaging 4.5 yards per carry. Heading into Friday's game, the Ranger run game has racked up 874 yards for 16 touchdowns, and are averaging 58.2 rushing yards per game more than opponents.

5 • Through five games, Jesuit has scored five touchdowns of 60 yards or more...three of the team's four longest scoring plays of the year have come over the last two weeks, including Musso's 76-yard rushing touchdown against Irving, the 69-yard fumble return for touchdown from Luke Buckner against Lake Highlands and a 62-yard pass from Musso to Fawcett against the Wildcats.

6 • The six touchdowns scored on Friday marks the fourth time since 2013 that Jesuit has scored seven or more touchdowns in a regular season game. The regular season record is eight touchdowns against W.T. White (10/11/13), and the offense rumbled for nine touchdowns against Arlington (11/12/21).

16 • Entering Friday, Jesuit is outscoring opponents by 16 points per game. The Rangers have held two opponents (Hebron, Irving) to under 10 points, and have scored 35 or more points in three of five games this season.

18 • Jesuit has continued to excel inside the Red Zone, as the Rangers are 18-of-22 in red zone trips this season. Against Lake Highlands, Jesuit went 3-for-3 with two touchdowns and a field goal. To begin the 2022 campaign, Jesuit scored in 12 consecutive red zone trips.

25 • This season, the legendary Jesuit Dallas radio team of Tom Walsh, Jack Fitzsimmons '76 and Chris Martinez '78 are celebrating their 25th season on the airwaves. The trio will broadcast this season on The Truth 770 KAAM.

90 • Jesuit Dallas head coach Brandon Hickman earned his 90th career victory with a 32-31 win over Lake Highlands on Sept. 16. Hickman currently ranks second in program history in wins, trailing only hall of fame head coach Gary Pasqua.

Scouting Highland Park: 

Rangers Dominate Irving Prior to Bye Week: Highland Park entered the bye week following a 63-0 win over Irving on Sept. 15. The Scots scored 49 first half points, led by Jay Cox, who scored six touchdown on the night (five rush, one punt return). The Highland Park defense held Irving to 42 yards and four first downs while the Scots' offense racked up 444 yards, averaged 10.31 yards per pass completion and 7.59 yards per rush attempt.

Back to 6A: The Scots are competing in their first UIL 6A season since 2015 following a wildly successful run in the 5A level. Over the six seasons HP competed in 5A, the Scots racked up a 74-11 record, a 37-3 mark against district opponents, and won three straight state championships from 2016-18. The 2018 season saw Highland Park cap an undefeated, 16-0 season with a 27-17 win over Shadow Creek in the state title game.

Randy Allen Makes History: Highland Park's 52-21 win over Lake Highlands on Sept. 15 provided a historic milestone for long-time head coach Randy Allen, who earned his 427th career victory. Allen is now the winningest coach in the DFW area, and moved into second for all-time Texas high school coaching victories. Allen surpassed former Celina and Pilot Point coach G.A. Moore, and trails only Phil Danaher of Corpus Christi Calallen, who has 490 career wins.

Up Next: Highland Park will continue district play with a showdown against Berkner on Oct. 6. The game is set for 7 p.m. at Wildcat-Ram Stadium.

District 7-6A Report:

MacArthur 55, Richardson 21: Glendon Willis completed 13 of 14 passes for 322 yards and three touchdowns as Irving MacArthur (3-1, 2-0) overpowered Richardson in a District 7-6A game at Joy & Ralph Ellis Stadium. Willis completed scoring tosses of 40 yards to Dakoby Simmons, 27 yards to Amareus Walker and 22 yards to Jerbrandin Henderson. Henderson's touchdown was one of his eight catches on the night, good for 192 yards. MacArthur had three players rush for over 100 yards, led by Corde Ray's 137 yards and one touchdown. Darelle Smith ran for 128 yards and three scores, and Kylale Flye rushed for 105 yards and one touchdown. Miles Buckley led Richardson (2-3, 1-2) with 145 rushing yards, including a 5-yard touchdown. Howard Armstrong had a combined 125 yards of offense, scoring one rushing touchdown and passing for another.

J.J. Pearce 48, Irving Nimitz 7: Ryan Williams ran for 54 yards and three touchdowns as Richardson Pearce defeated Irving Nimitz 48-7 on Friday night.His quarterback, Presley Harper, threw for 105 yards and a touchdown. He also had 66 yards on the ground and a rushing touchdown. Andrew Casagrande ran for 82 yards and a touchdown. Caden Varner caught three passes for 31 yards and a touchdown. Jack McGarry recorded 52 yards from scrimmage. Defensively, Pearce (1-4, 1-2 District 7-6A) recorded an interception on the fourth play of the game when Isaac Martinez blew up a screen pass in the backfield. For Nimitz (0-5, 0-3), Ashton Thompson led the way with 110 rushing yards on 18 carries. Richardson Pearce will host MacArthur next Friday night. Irving Nimitz will go on the road to play Lake Highlands next Friday night.

Lake Highlands 42, Berkner 7: Lake Highlands defeated Richardson Berkner 42-7 in district play at Wildcat-Ram Stadium. Lake Highlands (3-2, and 1-2 in District 7-6A) controlled play throughout the first half taking a 28-0 lead into halftime. Quarterback Tripp Holley connected on three long touchdown passes, with two of them taken the distance by wide receiver Shamar Donaldson. The Lake Highlands defense had two key interceptions by Cung Lian and Carson Klein in their end of the field to kill Richardson Berkner drives. The Lake Highlands defense picked up in the second half were they left off when Lucas Shaw took an interception back 35 yards for a touchdown for the only score of the third quarter. Tripp Holley then threw his fourth touchdown pass to finish the game 10 of 19 for 206 yards. Wide receiver Dameron Crowe made a big play to take a short pass 76 yards for the lone Berkner score on the night. Running back Jamary Williams contributed 113 yards on 24 carries for Berkner (2-3, 2-1).
