Jesuit Dallas shot 61.5 percent from the floor in the first quarter, taking a six-point lead and ultimately securing a 61-39 win over Irving on Friday at Irving H.S. The Rangers improved to 6-4 in district with the win ahead of a matchup against the top-ranked team in the state as Lake Highlands is set to visit Walsh Gym on Tuesday, Jan. 24.
Sophomore
Caleb Steger led the way for Jesuit with 17 points and seven rebounds, taking on three assists, a block and a steal. Senior Charlie Nedham scored 10 points, hitting a pair of three-pointers, adding six rebounds and two steals. Junior
Will Bronson led the team with eight rebounds, and scored eight points for the Blue and Gold.
Seniors
Dylan Gibbons and
Tai Kryger recorded three assists apiece, junior
Justin Kemp scored seven points and the duo of seniors
Hampton Aldridge and
Michael Mathie scored four points apiece. Jesuit forced 12 Irving turnovers, while led to 12 points. In addition, the Rangers scored 42 points in the paint, 16 second chance points off of 17 offensive rebounds, and out-rebounded the Tigers, 45-22.Â
The Rangers will return to Walsh Gym for the first time since January 3 as the Blue and Gold will battle Lake Highlands. Jesuit and the Wildcats will tip-off at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 24.
