Jesuit Dallas basketball opened its 2023-24 season with a 64-53 win over Wilmer-Hutchins on Saturday at Ellis Davis Field House. The Rangers begin the season 1-0 for the eighth time in the last nine years with the victory.

Caleb Steger led the way for Jesuit with 17 points, shooting 6-of-12 from the field while burying a pair of three-pointers. Steger matched junior
Michael Grant for the team lead in rebounding with seven boards apiece; Grant would tack on 13 points of his own for his first double-digit performance of the season. Senior
Will Bronson blocked three shots and was 7-of-11 from the floor to finish the game with 14 points. Senior
Hank Gramlich shot a 4-for-5 clip to finish the contest with nine points, a team-leading four assists, three rebounds and a steal while eight points from senior

Alec Piotrowski wrapped the Rangers' scoring.

Jesuit out-rebounded Wilmer-Hutchins, 35-16, and turned a four-point deficit midway through the first quarter into an 18-point lead with 6:05 remaining in the fourth. Jesuit secured 23 second chance points off 19 offensive rebounds, finishing the bout shooting 44.8 percent from the field.

The Rangers will continue their season on Tuesday as the Blue and Gold travels to Mesquite to take on the Skeeters. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Mesquite H.S.
