Jesuit Ties Lake Travis in Season Opener, Drops Bout to Weiss

Jesuit began the 2023 season with a 0-1-1 record, tying Lake Travis, 2-2 before dropping an 8-7 decision to Weiss on day one of the Pflugerville ISD Tournament at Weiss High School. The Rangers saw several strong performances from debuting varsity members, while the returning Ranger contingent provided some electricity for the Blue and Gold in their season opener.

Senior Jonah Timmons recorded Jesuit's lone RBI of the showdown against Lake Travis, driving home senior Nick Barber on a first inning RBI single. Junior Joe Allen threw a complete game in his varsity debut, racking up seven strikeouts over six innings of work. Jesuit racked up five stolen bases, recorded by Timmons, Barber, Braxton Barber, Cameron Davis and Jake Fults, while senior Weston Okamoto added a hit of his own.

Against Weiss, senior Jake Jorgensen went 2-for-2 with a pair of runs driven in. Sophomore Jake Fults launched his first home run of the season with a third inning blast, while senior Dominic Migliore recorded his first double of the season, driving in a run. Braxton Barber drove in his first varsity run with a sacrifice fly during a three-run second inning for the Rangers.

On the mound, senior Will Greenwood made the start, throwing 1.2 innings and striking out a batter. Senior Preston Payne picked up two strikeouts while sophomore Ty Moorhead struck out a batter in his varsity debut.
