Junior Cameron Davis ripped a single to left field, driving home sophomore Fulton Lawrence to give Jesuit Dallas a 3-2 win over Byron Nelson to start the second day of the 2023 Collin County Invitational at Wright Field. Lovejoy would defeat the Rangers, 4-2, in the nightcap.

Senior Jonah Timmons drove in a pair of runs for the Rangers against Byron Nelson, driving in senior Nick Barber in the fourth and sixth innings to bring the Rangers back from a 1-0 deficit to spot the Blue and Gold a one-run advantage heading into the seventh. The Bobcats tied the game in the top of the frame before Lawrence singled through the left side to put the winning road aboard. A single by junior Jake Jorgensen moved Lawrence into scoring position, setting the stage for Davis' heroics. On the mound, senior Luke Isett fired seven innings of work, allowing no earned runs on two hits and one strikeout.

Junior Tristen Bird drove in two runs for the Rangers against Lovejoy, a two-run double in the second inning that drove home Timmons and senior Dominic Migliore. Lovejoy hit a lead-off home run to start the game, adding an additional run in the first along with additional runs in the fifth and seventh inning. Sophomore Dillon Brandt struck out four batters in his second appearance of the season.

The Rangers will wrap the Collin County Invitational on Saturday, beginning with a 10 a.m. matchup against Sachse. The six-game tournament schedule will conclude at 5:30 p.m. against Celina.  Read Full Article
