MacArthur scored two runs in the first, one in the second and five in the third, and a late push from Jesuit fell one run short as the Rangers dropped a 6-5 bout to the Cardinals on Saturday at MacArthur H.S.

Senior Jonah Timmons led the way for the Rangers with two RBI, while seniors Nick Barber, Weston Okamoto and freshman James Jorgensen drove in one run apiece. Nick Barber recorded a team-high two hits, freshman Braxton Barber tacked on a double and junior Tristen Bird launched a triple. Additional hits were recorded by sophomore Jake Fults, Timmons, senior Dominic Migliore, Okamoto and senior Jack Barr.

On the mound, junior Joe Allen threw 1.2 innings and struck out three while allowing three runs on four hits. Barr took over in the second inning, striking out four over 4.1 innings of work.

Jesuit will now head into its final district series of the season as the Rangers will battle Richardson. The Eagles are currently 3-11 in district play and 4-23 overall, entering the series following back-to-back losses against Highland Park.
