Sophomore
Dillon Brandt delivered a masterful performance on the mound Tuesday, striking out nine batters and earning his first career no-hitter as Jesuit Dallas upended Richardson, 5-0, at Richardson High School. The Rangers are guaranteed one of the top two seeds in District 7-6A heading into the regular season finale on Friday, and can clinch the district championship with a win alongside a J.J. Pearce loss to Highland Park.
Brandt faced the minimum amount of batters in the win, as the sophomore's only runner allowed on base was picked off in the third inning. The sophomore's sixth win of the season marks the second time in three games that a Rangers has no-hit an opponent as senior
Luke Isett accomplished the feat on Friday against MacArthur.
Senior
Jonah Timmons got the Rangers' offense going in the first inning, launching a single through the left side that plated fellow fourth year
Nick Barber for an early, 1-0 lead. Sophomore
Jake Fults would later score on a throwing error by the Eagles' catcher before an RBI groundout by senior
Dominic Migliore plated Timmons to spot the Rangers a 3-0 advantage. In the fifth inning, senior
Weston Okamoto crossed the plate on a passed ball, and Bird added a RBI fielder's choice to drive home freshman
James Jorgensen, who finished the contest with a double and a team-leading two hits.
The Rangers will conclude the regular season on Friday against Richardson. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Wright Field.
