Another stellar pitching performance and seven unanswered runs catapulted Jesuit Dallas into the third round of the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Region I-6A Tournament for the first time 2016, as the Blue and Gold clinched a two-game sweep of state-ranked No. 4 Hebron with a 7-1 win on Friday night at Hebron H.S. The Rangers will advance to battle No. 21 Denton Guyer in the Region I-6A Quarterfinals.

Dillon Brandt completed a stellar week on the mound for Jesuit Dallas, six innings, striking out six batters and allowing only one run on four hits. Senior
Jack Barr threw the seventh inning for the Rangers, hurling a shutout and propelling Jesuit to the victory, striking out one of the three batters he faced.

Jake Fults crushed a 2-2 pitch to deep left field, a two-run blast that furthered the Jesuit lead and opened the door for the pitching staff to complete the sweep. Senior
Nick Barber led the team with two hits on the night, while additional hits were tacked on by Fults, Timmons, Jorgensen, Migliore and Bird.
The Rangers will enter the third round as the lone representative from District 7-6A remaining in the playoffs. The Rangers are currently 24-11-4 and will face off against District 5-6A Champion Denton Guyer, who enters the regional quarterfinals holding a 29-10 record and advanced to the third round with a sweep (4-3, 10-1) or Arlington Martin. The series will begin at Denton Guyer H.S. at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 18 before shifting to Wright Field for a 7 p.m. first pitch on Friday, May 19. A decisive third game, if necessary, will take place on Saturday, May 20 at a time to be determined at Little Elm H.S.
