Jesuit Dallas soccer opened the 2024 season with a 2-0 win over Nolan Catholic in the opening round of the 2024 Jesuit-Meintser Soccer Invitational on Thursday at Ranger Stadium.
Junior Octavio Monjaras scored Jesuit's first goal of the year, putting home a feed from fellow junior Noah McGough to give the Rangers an early, 1-0 advantage. Senior Caleb Fisher put home a rebounded header from senior Jack Bradshaw for his first goal of the season in the 18th minute, providing the two-goal advantage that helped propel Jesuit to the win.
Jesuit's defense held firm throughout the bout, holding the Vikings to only one shot during the contest. Nolan Catholic forged only one corner kick opportunity while the Ranger defense only committed three fouls during the contest. Seniors Reid McMillan and Matteo Costanzo combined for the shutout, with both goalkeepers playing a half.
The Rangers advance to play McKinney in the second round of the tournament. Kick-off is set for 4 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
