GAME PREVIEW: Jesuit and Lewisville Meet in Regional Quarterfinal

Scouting the Rangers: Jesuit advanced to the UIL Regional Quarterfinal Round for the first time since the 2020-21 season with a 67-50 win over No. 24 McKinney. The Rangers erupted for a 13-0 run to start the contest, using a 15-5 run in the third quarter to distance themselves from the Lions. Junior Michael Grant led the way for the Rangers with 27 points on the night, as junior Caleb Steger added 17 points to the Jesuit effort. McKinney was led by Malek Archie, who scored 20 points for the Lions. The Rangers finished the contest shooting 53.2 percent from the field, 42.9 percent from three-point range, and 61.5 percent from the free-throw line.

Scouting the Fighting Farmers: The Fighting Farmers hit the 30-win plateau and earned their way to the UIL Regional Quarterfinal with a 61-56, overtime win over Arlington Martin on Friday at Euless Trinity H.S. Senior Rakai Crawford helped anchor the Farmers' scoring with 19 points on the evening, as senior Landon Brown tacked on 16 points for Lewisville in the win. The Fighting Farmers' playoff run began with a 72-66, overtime win over Denton Guyer in which Brown led Lewisville with 24 points, followed by 16 points from Crawford and 16 points from junior A.J. McPeters.

Region I-6A Report: The playoff picture in UIL Region I-6A has become clearer as eight teams remain heading into this weekend's regional tournament. The field currently includes five district champions and five state-ranked teams. In addition to the Jesuit Dallas/Lewisville match up, three other contests will take place on Tuesday. Two match ups include showdowns between state-ranked teams, as No. 13 Keller and No. 3 North Crowley will square off on Tuesday while No. 1 Plano East and No. 10 Allen also battle on Tuesday night. The final match up of the regional quarterfinal round will pit No. 25 Frenship against V.R. Eaton. The Region I-6A Tournament will take place from March. 1-2 at the Wilkerson-Greines Activity Center in Fort Worth, Texas.

Series History: Tuesday's match up between Jesuit and Lewisville is a first-time playoff meeting. The two teams last met in the 2021-22 season-opener, a contest won by Jesuit Dallas, 64-62 at the Jimmy Gales Classic at South Oak Cliff H.S. Dating back to the 1994-95 season, Jesuit holds a narrow, 9-8 advantage over Lewisville over the course of 17 meetings.
