The Rangers defeated J.J. Pearce, 2-0, on Feb. 6 at J.J. Pearce H.S. in Richardson, Texas. With the victory, Jesuit improves to 4-1-1 in district play as the blue and gold approaches the final game of the first circuit of district play.
In the seventh minute, senior Matthew Sucato found the back of the net off of an assist by junior Octavio Monjaras, spotting the blue and gold an early, 1-0 advantage. Later in the first half, Sucato would assist on a goal scored by junior Noah McGough to increase the Jesuit Dallas lead to two goals. Overall, the Rangers out-shot the Mustangs, 16-4, placing six shots on target.
In goal, senior Reid McMillan blanked the Mustangs in the first half before senior Matteo Costanzo took over in the second half, notching a save to help preserve the shutout. Pearce would finish the bout with four shots, including one on target, earning three corner kicks in comparison to the four corner attempts from Jesuit.
The Rangers will finish the first circuit of district play on Friday, Feb. 9, when Jesuit battles Nimitz. Kick-off for the matchup between the Rangers and Vikings is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
