Jesuit's unprecedented unbeaten start to the 2024 baseball season ended on Tuesday, as the J.J. Pearce Mustangs escaped Tuesday's district opener with a 4-3 win over the state-ranked No. 7 Rangers.

Jesuit was able to score one run in the sixth but were held scoreless in the seventh, despite putting the game-tying run at third base with two outs in the frame.

Jesuit's 1-2 hitters, sophomore
Braxton Barber and senior
Cameron Davis, each went 2-for-4 on the day with Barber tacking on a RBI for the Blue and Gold. Senior
Tristen Bird went 2-for-3 for the Rangers. Junior
Dillon Brandt had another strong performance on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings. Senior
Joe Allen kept the door open for a potential comeback, striking out the side in the Pearce sixth to keep the Mustangs' lead at one run heading into the seventh.

The Rangers will battle Pearce at Wright Field on Wednesday night, as the game originally scheduled for Thursday was moved up a day in advance of the projected inclement weather in the Metroplex. First pitch on Wednesday is set for 7 p.m.
