Unbeaten Start Remains Intact as Rangers Topple Leander, McCallum

Jesuit maintained its historic unbeaten start to the season, improving to 15-0 with a pair of wins on Friday at the Leander Tournament. Jesuit bested hosting Leander, 7-5 before edging Austin McCallum 7-6 in a pair of games contested at Vandegrift H.S.
 
Sophomore James Jorgensen drove in a pair of runs against Leander, while sophomore Shane Parker added a RBI to the Jesuit Dallas effort. Senior Tristen Bird went 2-for-2 from the plate while additional hits were recorded by senior Cameron Davis alongside sophomores Braxton Barber, Taylor Haddock, and Hudson Yobp. Senior Jaxx Rigelsky earned his third win of the season, throwing 3.1 innings of one-hit, shutout relief. Senior Joe Allen struck out two batters over 2.2 innings in his third start of the season.
 
Against McCallum, James Jorgensen went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and one RBI. Junior Fulton Lawrence drove in a pair of runs while junior Jake Fults launched his second home run of the season. Barber, Haddock, senior Gavin Hickey and sophomore Charlie Wilson tallied additional hits for the Rangers. Junior Asher Levy secured his third win of the year with five innings on the mound, striking out eight batters. Fults picked up his first save of the season with a scoreless sixth inning, adding a strikeout.
 
Jesuit will finish the weekend and look to end the non-district slate with an unblemished, 16-0 record on Saturday, when the Rangers will play Lake Travis. First pitch is set for 9:30 a.m. at Rouse H.S. in Leander.
