Jesuit Advances to Championship Game of Houston Tournament

The Ranger volleyball team advanced to the championship match of the weekend tournament in Houston, Texas, posting a 3-1 record on April 20. Jesuit opened the tournament with a 3-0 win over Summer Creek (25-21, 25-17, 25-23), sweep of The Woodlands (25-11, 25-21, 25-20) and a 2-0 win over Conroe (25-13, 25-22) before falling 2-1 to Rockwall in the final.
 
Against Summer Creek, freshman William Klose posted 40 assists, 16 digs and a block while senior Will Bronson and Miles McGovern posted 12 kills apiece. Senior Justin Pack scored 11 kills for the Rangers while freshman Eli Garza recorded a team-high three aces. Pack added 10 digs and senior Diego Ortiz-Segura recorded nine digs as the Rangers hit a .271 clip as a team while holding Summer Creek to a .155 hitting percentage.
 
Bronson scored six kills against The Woodlands while Garza, McGovern, Pack and sophomore Parker Schutze picked up three kills apiece. Klose scored 11 aces and 21 aces to help pace the team. Against Conroe, Pack led the way with nine kills while tying Garza for the team lead with seven digs, Klose tacked on 26 assists and freshman Daniel Shao picked up a team-high four aces. In the tournament finale against Rockwall, Pack, McGovern and Garza racked up five kills apiece while Klose and Bronson each recorded two kills. Klose assisted on 17 kills and added five solo blocks and eight aces.
 
Jesuit will return to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex for the regular season finale on Tuesday, April 23 against Rockwall. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m. at Rockwall H.S.
