Volleyball Punches Ticket to State Following Wild Win Over Wylie

Jesuit Dallas outlasted Wylie during a five-set showdown, earning its trip to the Texas High School Boys' Volleyball State Championship tournament with a 3-2 win over the Pirates on Saturday at Walsh Gym. Jesuit will battle Rockwall in the TBHSV State Semifinal at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 4.

Senior Justin Pack logged 16 kills during the contest, followed by 12 kills from senior Will Bronson. Jesuit's frontcourt provided to be a massive difference-maker once again as Bronson logged a pair of solo blocks while freshman William Klose added three blocks (two solo, one assisted) of his own. Senior Diego Ortiz-Segura racked up a team-high five aces, picking up a team-leading 16 digs and three assists, while Klose was a massive impact player, finishing the contest with 41 assists to lead the team.

Freshman Dashel Glasgow hit a .412 clip to close the contest with nine kills, freshman Eli Garza added eight kills of his own followed by five from Klose and four from senior Keegan Keough. Garza, Klose and freshman Daniel Shao picked up two aces apiece.

The Rangers and Yellow Jackets will meet for the sixth time this season in the state semifinal, as the two teams most recently met on April 23, a 3-2 win for Rockwall in its home gym. First serve is set for 6 p.m., and will be followed by the second TBHSV State Semifinal matchup between Summer Creek and Allen.
