Mario Zamora scored a second half goal that propelled the Rangers to a 1-0 win over Lake Highlands on Tuesday at Lake Highlands H.S. Jesuit picks up its fifth win of the season and second district victory heading into a matchup against MacArthur on Friday at Ranger Stadium.

Zamora's goal came in the 67th minute off of a corner kick by junior
Noah McGough. Zamora was able to convert the well-placed ball into a goal with a nifty header that bounced past the outstretched arms of the Wildcats' netminder and into the back of the net.

Jesuit out-shot Lake Highlands, 10-6 during a hard fought and physical affair that procured 24 fouls between the team teams. Senior
Marcelo Elizondo made two saves in the first half before senior
Jake Chostner made a critical, highlight-reel save in the second that set the stage for the Rangers to clinch the victory. Additional shots on goal were recorded by seniors
Clyde Araiza and
Octavio Monjaras.

The Rangers will welcome MacArthur to Ranger Stadium for a 7:15 p.m. kickoff on Friday. The Cardinals are currently 0-2-1 in district play, most recently dropping a 2-1 decision to Berkner on Tuesday. MacArthur opened district play with a 3-3 tie against Nimitz on Jan. 21 before dropping a 2-0 tilt to Lake Highlands on Jan. 24. Jesuit has won three straight matches against MacArthur, including a sweep of the season series last year. Jesuit upended MacArthur, 3-1, in the Cardinals' last trip to Ranger Stadium on January 26, 2024.
