Jesuit Caps Lone Star Event With Wins Over OKC, Wakeland

FRISCO, Texas - The Jesuit Dallas basketball team picked up wins over OKC Storn and Frisco Wakeland to finish the Lone Star Tournament with three victories. The Rangers defeated the Storm 59-47 and the Wolverines 70-51.

Jesuit improved to 4-3 this season after a 3-1 mark at Lone Star High School the previous two days.

In the first game of the day, Jesuit showcased some tough defense, with 11 steals on 16 Storm turnovers, while grabbed 17 defensive rebounds and allowing just three offense boards.

Pierce Popelka had 17 points and Andrew Eakes poured in 14 on 4-of-7 from outside, in addition to collecting four assists and a pair of steals. Justin Fern had 10 points and three rebounds.

In the afternoon contest, the Rangers shot 47 percent and assisted on 19 of 26 baskets. 

Popelka led the way with 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting, while Fern added 10 points and six rebounds. Dashel Glasgow and Eakes added eight points. Glasgow and Colin Grant each pulled down six boards as well.

The Ranger defense held Wakeland to just 34 percent shooting. They also outrebounded the Wolverines 46-21.

Jesuit has held its last five opponents to 51 or fewer points in regulation.

Jesuit will return home next week when it plays host to Highland Park on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. The Rangers will then welcome seven teams to Walsh Gym for the 62nd Annual Knights of Columbus Bob Stras Memorial Classic Dec. 4-6.
