FORT WORTH, Texas - The Jesuit Dallas Shotgun Competitive Shooting Team opened its league season with a third place finish at the Fort Worth Trap & Skeet Club on Saturday.
The Rangers had 15 members participate in the first DFW Northeast League event of the 2025-26 season. At the end of the season-long series the athlete with the highest cumulative total number or targets broken will win a trophy belt buckle. They will award a buckle for both JV and Varsity divisions.
"We had some really strong impressive scores and I was very impressed on how our freshmen and first-year athletes performed," head coach
Craig Cain said. "I could not be more pleased with (the team's) performance."
Jesuit was only 14 targets back from first place. The five athletes whose score counted towards the team overall were:
Paul Thompson 95 pts
Gavin Dourty 92
Grant Adee 90
Judge Platt 88
Tristan Osler 87
Along with the team award the Rangers had some very impressive individual results as well:
In the Senior Varsity division:
Paul Thompson finished in third place overall with his score of 95, shooting rounds of 24/23/25/23=95;
Gavin Dourty finished in sixth place overall with a score of 92 with rounds of 25/22/21/24=92. Both shooters had one perfect round of 25 out of 25!
Grant Adee rounded out the top 10 with his score of 90, compiling a 21/24/21/24=90 total.
On the junior varsity side, leading the way was
Tate Armentrout. He finished in sixth place after holding a top-3 podium spot for much of the competition before some late scores bumped him down with a score of 83 in his very first competition.
Nathan Williams also shot an impressive score of 82 to secure ninth place.
Ryan Moussa and
Liam McCulloch both shot 79 and finished just outside of the top 10 in their 1st tournament also.
