The 2025 Stotesbury Cup Regatta was a landmark moment for Jesuit Dallas Crew, as three boats advanced to the semifinals and the program claimed its first-ever Stotesbury victory with a win in the lightweight 4+.
The defining moment came on Friday, as the lightweight 4+, who stormed to the top of the leaderboard in a time trial. They posted the fastest time overall, finishing seconds ahead of a very respectable Canadian crew in second and more than 14 seconds clear of the third-place finisher. It marked the first time that the Jesuit Dallas crew program has captured a victory at the Stotesbury Cup.
The junior 4+ set the tone early, placing 12th overall in a field of more than 50 entries, with less than 10 seconds separating them from the top three. The junior 8+, powered by underclassmen and stroked by freshman Caleb Knight, secured 16th place and earned a well-deserved spot in the semifinals—a promising result for a young and rapidly developing crew.
Though the regatta committee ultimately canceled Saturday's racing due to unsafe river conditions, the message was already clear: Jesuit made its presence known on the national stage.
"I knew they had speed, but the way they showed up and handled business—nobody saw that coming," said head coach Eli Brown.
From the start of the weekend, the team was welcomed by an incredibly supportive regatta community. The referees, volunteers, and organizers created a championship atmosphere that left a lasting impression, and Jesuit is grateful for their efforts.
Jesuit concludes its 2024–2025 season with this performance and will begin summer training in early July. The team will celebrate this year's accomplishments at the end-of-season banquet on Thursday, honoring the athletes, families, and supporters who made this success possible.
