DALLAS – The Jesuit Dallas Athletics Department has announced that longtime broadcaster Tom Walsh will return for his 26th football season in 2025, while splitting play-by-play duties with Chris Ackels '09.
Walsh will be on the call for three games this season, marking his 26th with the school. The Voice of the Rangers for the past two decades, Walsh will be in the booth for the home opener against Jesuit New Orleans, as well as rivalry games against Highland Park and Lake Highlands.
Ackels will get behind the mic for four games as he returns to his roots where he began his broadcast career. The current public address announcer for Notre Dame football was part of a student-led group that originated the first-ever video broadcasts of Jesuit Athletics during the 2010 run to the UIL State Soccer Championship.
Kevin Fitzsimmons '11 will serve as the color analyst for six games. He is the son of beloved former Jesuit basketball coach, counselor, and administrator Jack Fitzsimmons '76, who served as the color man for 24 seasons prior to his passing on Aug. 31, 2024.
Former NFL quarterback and current Dallas Cowboys radio analyst Babe Laufenberg will join Walsh for the Highland Park and Lake Highlands contests.
Chris Martinez '78 will return as the statistician and spotter while also providing commentary as the third man in the booth. He has been part of the Jesuit broadcast team since 2000.
"We arguably have the top broadcast team in the state of Texas," Jesuit Dallas Athletics Director
Kyle Herrema said. "Tom Walsh and Chris Martinez have anchored the Jesuit broadcast booth for over 25 years. Babe Laufenberg brings elite professional insight. Kevin Fitzsimmons' family legacy in Jesuit athletics speaks for itself. And rounding out the team is Chris Ackels, the current voice of Notre Dame football. With this lineup, we know every broadcast will be something special."
Jesuit is also announcing a video broadcast partnership with Champion Sports Media for the 2025 season.
The agreement includes pre- and post-game coverage of all 10 regular-season games, including the Rangers' seven District 7-6A games against Berkner, Irving, J.J. Pearce, Lake Highlands, MacArthur, Nimitz and Richardson. The games will be carried on the Jesuit Dallas Rangers YouTube channel via the Jesuit Rangers Sports Network.
Founded in 2005 by Thomas Lee, CSM has developed into the largest sports broadcasting company in North Texas. They have produced more than 5,000 broadcasts reaching millions of fans while bringing an experienced approach and professionalism to covering amateur athletics.
The 2025 season gets underway with a road game at Hebron on August 29 before opening home action at Ranger Stadium against Jesuit New Orleans on September 5.
